MERCURY ABATEMENT
Crematoriums are now required, by law, to install Mercury Abatement units. The majority of processes, presently being recommended, are expensive to purchase, run and maintain. The physical size of the processes makes it difficult or prohibitive to fit these systems to existing equipment and in many instances capital building projects are required to house them. Crystal Air Solutions have new technology which makes Mercury Abatement easier and less costly. This technology is a TOTAL abatement system and removes NOXs, VOCs etc. The energy can also be captured and re-used to heat hot water, heating etc. The Carbon Trust view this kind of system favourably and DEFRA inform us that new legislation to further reduce the emissions of NOXs is not far away as an extension of the Gothenburg Treaty.
The benefits are:
Lower capital cost.
Lower running costs.
Lower maintenance costs.
Installation time reduced.
Smaller dimensions. Units can easily be installed within existing space requiring no capital building projects.
No requirement to add chemicals to the process further reducing costs and saving waste.
Potential energy saving. Not only does this technology need less energy to remove the emissions to atmosphere, where suitable, the waste heat from cremators can be recycled.
Reduced overall carbon footprint as the energy required to manufacture these units is substantially less.
